Educate. Encourage. Empower.

I am a middle school teacher, coach and drama director from New York who has a decade of experience being a mentor to middle school aged children. In those 10 years, I have witnessed the importance that true and meaningful role models have in the direction of the lives of budding adolescents. My classroom, and Three Traits Movement, are rooted in the belief that every middle school child is one positive message away from changing the world.

The Three Traits’ social media presence and website are used as symbols of hope for struggling middle schoolers, a resource for teachers looking for a different approach to help their students, and a hub for professionals who want to give back to an age group yearning for their insight and inspiration.

Educate.

  • The professional role model explains the skills necessary to complete her job, daily activities, and the path she took to get to her position.
  • Students ask questions to the professional role about her job, skills necessary, and any other job-related questions.

Encourage.

  • The professional role model gives advice to the students about ways to better develop the project they are working on in class, providing tips, resources and words of encouragement.

Empower.

  • The professional role model finishes the meeting with the “Three Traits” she has rooted her path in, finishing the meeting with an empowering final thought to motivate the students with the belief that they can accomplish this current task, and any others that come their way.
